Ocean Knoll Farm

Healthy Day transformed this one-acre site from a neighborhood eyesore into a thriving organic farm and outdoor education hub. Home of the Straight 2 The Plate program, growing food for all district schools, and integrating garden education into classroom education.

OK Farm highlights:

85 raised garden beds

2 Chicken coops

20 ft x 40 ft stage

Plastic bottle greenhouse - made by students from single-use plastic trash

50 assorted fruit trees - Food forest around perimeter - available to students, local residents, and visitors

Compost Campus - offering free monthly zero waste workshops (composting, fruit tree care and pruning, recycling, simplified lifestyle, water conservation, conscious consumer, upcycling, etc.)

EUSD Farm lab & dreams campus

Healthy Day cultivated this ten-acre former parking lot into a vibrant outdoor experiential education model and the first certified organic farm to school crop farm in the country.

Farm Lab highlights:

DREAMS Campus - indoor/outdoor environmental and nutrition education satellite campus offering hands-on NGSS science lessons for 5,400 EUSD K-6th grade students.

Crop farm - 4 acres of land growing year-round organic produce for the school district. Over 40,000 pounds of hyper-local produce grown for EUSD’s school lunch program. Summer produce (tomatoes, peppers and herbs) roasted and frozen to provide pizza and marinara sauce for the following school year

Food forest - offering public access to over 50 varieties of fruit trees along a busy public through-way

Community Education

Working with the City of Encinitas, San Diego Botanic Garden, I Love a Clean San Diego, and Jimbo’s Naturally to educate community members about the best ecological practices to incorporate into the home, office, school, and greater community.
