Farm & Gardens

EUSD Farm Lab

The EUSD Farm Lab is located on Quail Gardens Drive between Leucadia and Encinitas Boulevards. In 2014, Healthy Day Partners had the privilege of helping to formulate the vision for this innovative center.

The core intent of the Farm Lab….

is to provide students with educational experiences that demonstrate the interconnectedness of nutrition, agriculture, and ecology. Through hands-on lessons in the field and in food and science labs, students will develop a rich understanding of the connection between our actions and our health, economy and environment. Key partnerships and community engagement will further enrich the program.

Farm Lab curriculum is designed to cultivate a deep appreciation for natural resources and to equip our students with the tools they require to make healthy choices.

The design of the Farm Lab also contemplates use of the space for holding after hour community programming as well as special events. The rustic Farm Lab setting will be an ideal location for harvest dinners and other fundraising events.

School Garden Mentorship Program

Like two great things that go great together, Chipotle and HDP have teamed up for the School Garden Mentorship Program. Together we provide guidance and support to school gardens in San Diego county.

Poway’s Design 39 Elementary School is the first benefactor of the new program and students are developing their school garden with teacher Kelly. The 2014 program will also support the OKEF and another recipient that we look forward to announcing soon.
